Chicken Pox Spread

chicken pox spread
?

I know it’s possible for people to get Chicken Pox later in life if he/she had them as a child, because I know people who have been in that situation. I woke up yesterday morning with my hands and feet covered in what looked like big ant bites. I know it isn’t ant bites because there no ants in my bedroom, and I haven’t gotten bitten lately. I’ve retraced everything I’ve done in the past 3 days, and nothing was out of the ordinary. I haven’t used any new lotions or soaps. I’m not allergic to poison ivy…..I’m not sure what it . But it’s mainly on my hands, feet, and the back of my knees. It has spread drastically between yesterday morning and now. What do yall think?

Interesting that it would be on your hands and feet primarily. Most start around your abdomen and back area. Do you have any other symptoms? You should see your doctor.

Chicken Pox Vaccines

chicken pox vaccines
Can a child get even if they have had the vaccine?

My 6 year old son has red pimple like spots on the back of his neck and now some have shown up on his back, tummy, and legs. He had the chicken vaccine so at first I thought maybe it was flea or chigger bite maybe even hives. But none of those things looked like these bumps. it still possible that he could get the chicken pox even with the vaccine?

Chicken pox typically look like a “dew drop on a rose petal” – red spot with a blister on top.
It is possible to get cp even after having been vaccinated. I have personally witnessed this, as both of my older children were vaccinated as babies and then caught it from a friend at school. The case was considerably lessened than the friend’s case, but both were confirmed by the kids’ pediatrician.
There has been some speculation that the vaccine didn’t offer as much immunity as once thought. This is why many peds now recommending a booster.
There has also been some talk of the virus mutating, making people more susceptible to it. There have been cases where the person had already had a verified case of cp, only to end up getting it again when exposed.
You should take your son to see his ped and have it confirmed.

Good luck!

Pics of Chicken Pox

pics of chicken pox
Does this sound like to you?

son has been sort of crankier than normal…not running fever…acts kind of just blah…upset tummy….and then lastnight noticed he was itching around his genitals, very severely and forcefully nonstop itching, then his back, legs, arms, tummy, neck, face…has scattered blisters and almost bug bite looking sores and some broken lesions throughout (mostly looks like the open ones on his legs and has been scratching them to the point of bleeding. Appears to be different stages of bumps, etc. throughout his body. And from pics I’ve seen, plus I AM a nurse, it looks to me like a huge possibility he has . . .but not hundred percent sure…BUT, what else could it be?

it does seem to be like chicken pox…better take him to a doc for confirmation because it could also be some sort of allergy at times. use of calamine lotion ll help reduce the irritation, isolate all his clothings, and utensils to prevent spreading the infection. take care

Preventing

Many years before chickenpox was considered to be a disease that affected everybody during childhood. After the vaccine against varicella was discovered, the number of chickenpox cases started to decrease. This vaccine is applicable to children aged more than12 months, to adults and to pregnant women too. Nowadays most of the babies get such a vaccine at the age of 12 or 15 months. Also, a person who has never had chickenpox and got in close contact to an infected person could ask for this vaccine because it can prevent the disease from occurring.

Chickenpox can cause serious complications to those who have problems with their immune system or to pregnant women and babies. Therefore, a shot of varicella zoster immune globulin is given to those people in order to prevent chickenpox. Also, people who never had chickenpox can ask for a vaccination.

An antiviral treatment can also be taken by adults to help reduce the symptoms of chickenpox. Acyclovir (Zovirax) is efficient only if taken within the first 24 hours after . In children this treatment is not recommended because it does not help so much and is quite expensive.

Other treatment is available for relieving the symptoms of the disease. Oatmeal baths and calamine lotion are good for reducing the itching. Scratching is prohibited because it can produce skin infections and so, the nails should be cut…just in case you feel like scratching. Other drugs that keep under control the itching are antihistamines, and for reducing the fever non-aspirin medication is recommended.

Try not to scratch because there can appear marks on the skin after the infection has passed.

Chickenpox does not require hospitalization and is generally easy to diagnose. Also, call your doctor for advice if you have in your family a pregnant women or a member that takes steroids regularly or has cancer.

Also, call your doctor if your child has fever, intense itching that does not go away with medication, infected blisters, headaches, or vomiting and any sign of pneumonia.

An infected person should stay at home in order not to contaminate other healthy persons especially those who have problems with their immune system.

If you think you got into close contact with an infected person call your doctor and ask for a varicella vaccine. This will help you keep chickenpox away. Also, if you had chickenpox during childhood, you can relax because you are immune to another chickenpox infection.
