People have found cures for deadly diseases?

but not for the common cold why is this?
I mean they are the most common thing to happen so doctors should be able to study it more right?

There’s multiple reasons for this. For one thing, there’s too many strains of the virus that cause the common cold. Thus, it would be impractical to make a vaccine that would have to be modified once a new strain comes out every few weeks. It’s the same reason why there’s no successful vaccine against HIV. The high mutation rate in these viruses make it impractical to generate vaccines against.

Second is the issue of whether the body is able to sustain immunity against the antigen even if a successful vaccine could be made. It’s the reason why hepatitis vaccines last a lifetime, but other vaccines such as Tetanus require a booster every 10 years. Immunity to different pathogens have very different half lives. Thus, there’s too many factors to consider for an infection that causes relatively minor problems compared to .
