Im worried about cirrhosis of my liver I was a heavy drinker like twice a week getting drunk.?
The thing is the more i read the more I find that you don’t have to be a heavy drinker to get this disease or even the early stages of this disease. Women are at higher risk and the same goes for smaller men. Im not a huge guy im 5-9 and anywhere between 155-165 weight. I look healthy but have stomach problems and digestion problems and often feel toxic can smell the foods i ate from my skin in my hands. I drank like 5-10 beers 2 times a week for 2 years then quit for 2 years than started up again for 2 years now i have quit… Get my point im done for good have haven’t in almost 3 years but any damage is permanent the liver does not heal any type of scar tissue will be permanent. I may have 80% liver function and be alive but what about the rest of my liver am i doomed?
I really don’t think you have to worry about liver failure from what you have told me. That is not really considered heavy drinking. It takes a lot more than your drinking to actually scar a liver. It starts with fibrosis first which is not scar tissue and will not damage the liver permanently. I think you are a bit paranoid over this and reading too much stuff on the internet which would scare anyone. I had cirrhosis (autoimmune disease) and a liver transplant and you haven’t said anything that indicates liver disease.
If you want to be absolutely sure, just get some liver blood work done and see what the numbers are. If your enzymes are high, platelets are low, biliruben is high, blood clotting time is off, and a number of other abnormals come up on it, then you might be able to say you could have a liver problem. If they turn out OK, don’t worry about it. From my experience with this disease, I don’t think you have anything to worry about when it comes to your liver.
By the way, congratulations on your abstinence from alcohol. That’s great!
