Did smallpox scabs itch — as with the chicken pox?

I obviously wouldn’t know — having been vaccinated as an infant against smallpox. Plus, according to official studies, the last case of smallpox occurred sometime in the 1970′s. That being said, it’s still living memory — and somebody alive today might know somebody who actually had the disease.

If I’m correct in my training they were more like blisters .They broke open and ozzed rather than rising and itching.Chicken pox will only open if scratched.Small pox erupted on it’s own.
